Founded in Virginia, U.S in 1982, Operation Smile is an international medical charity that has provided more than 308,000 free, safe and high-quality surgeries for children and young adults who are born with cleft lip, cleft palate or other facial deformities in developing countries. It is one of the oldest and largest volunteer-based organizations dedicated to improving the health and lives of children worldwide through access to surgical care.
"Operation Smile presents Mizuki Nishiyama. A celebrated international artist, Nishiyama recently concluded her latest solo exhibition; An Exploration of Human Fragility: Love and Lust in New York City. Her paintings are regarded as greatly tempestuous, impassioned works of art that manifest concepts of human fragility and vulnerability. Currently, the young artist is preparing for her upcoming exhibition; Shunga at the renowned Whitestone Gallery in Hong Kong.
A graduate of Parsons School of Design. Nishiyama now returns to Hong Kong, continuing her journey in Fine Arts, Arts Education, and Philanthropy.
We are eager to present the artist’s three dedicated paintings to Operation Smile.
The three works generously donated by the artist herself consists of titles; Bloom, Nurture, and Paths. Inspired by motifs of nature, Nishiyama approached this series with concepts regarding hope, evolution, and life.
Nishiyama adds; “This series is a mirror. I want the audience to take a good look at themselves. Living with dignity and pride is a deserved right. It is our civil responsibility to make righteous decisions. I am showing the transformative impact this foundation offers.”
The three dedicated works by Nishiyama will be available during the live auction, offering a reminder that there is hope and opportunity for all. Through the funds raised at the auction, the young artist and philanthropist hopes to offer brand new smile for as many children in need as possible."
